Jubilee 2

(with my little girl's  head just getting in the picture, I've just noticed!)

One last Jubilee post while the warm, fuzzy glow persists! I enjoyed this exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery in London.  It was a delightful mixture of the regal and the odd, the flattering and the ugly, the staged and the spontaneous.

It was the 1954 portrait by Pietro Annigoni, perfectly displayed against a wall painted a beautiful teal blue, which was my favourite (probably because I remember it from my childhood stamp collection!).

Diamond Jubilee

London was looking lovely this week, all red, white and blue for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.

We made crowns, went to watch one of the beacons being lit, had a rare opportunity to sing the National Anthem and waved at the Queen!

Another year, another trip to pick asparagus! In fact, we had three trips this year as the crop was so delicious.

We ate it steamed with butter and Parmesan cheese, roasted with rock salt and served with balsamic vinegar, in chicken risotto, in a pasta salad, in stir-fry but my absolute favourite had to be the Spicy Sesame Beef Salad fromBill Granger's Feed Me Now
